Jim has also been behind a lot of the development for all the top boat builders in the class. Jim also developed the Cumulus and D+ masts with Selden. Between them they have developed sails to fit all the mast types, please give them a call to discuss your requirements.

Solo sail

Our solo sail panels are either radial or cross cut  made with a choice of Technora ODL04, Maxx & 3.8oz Dacron. The batten choices are HD 15Ct Contract batten or HD custom carbon (£245.00 extra) . Each sail includes black numbers, window a high load Allen cunningham block, sail bag, foot rope and tell tales.

The  MAXX Cross-cut mainsail

HD Sails have been watching the Finn fleet since the 2012 games and noticed the increasing number of golden looking sails. With research the sails have a reputation for being fast in the light to medium airs and lasting longer than the current Technora sails.

The Maxx cloth is produced by Contender UK and is a Kevlar Laminate solely designed for producing cross-cut sails. The fibres in Maxx cloth are laid at varying angles, so that the sail forces are distributed evenly over the cross-cut panels. The result is superior longevity and control of the sail profile over a wide range of wind conditions.

The data from the Maxx cloth showed it would be a reliable, versatile cloth. We could make a more powerful sail than the radial sail, that would be more responsive and easier to control and depower when needed.

Results for the 2015 season have shown how quick this sail is with wins at the, Spring Championships, Inland Championships, Scottish Nationals. Welsh Nationals, End Of Season Championships, as well as second at the National Championships and Winter Championships.
